Sophie is a French and American fiber artist, who is usually found near a sea or under a tree, living in San Diego, CA.
She started working with wool in 2007, loving the material for its felting and sculpting properties, its warmth and softness, and its tactile effect.
Her felted wool works talk about long journeys, longing for a home, the winds, being together, loneliness, displacement, untouched territories, and the consumption of the Earth's natural resources.
Her felt pieces have been shown in galleries in San Diego and in France and some are currently available for purchase at the San Diego Museum of Art's gift store.
From time to time she teaches interesting folks how to make their own felted wool things at the fantastic San Diego Craft Collective in liberty Station.
Private classes can also be organized.
